TDK Showcases New Multi-Format DVD Writer At CES / Las Vegas

If you're going to CES, make sure you stop by TDK's booth. They are showing off their new multi-format Indi DVD drive. This new DVD writer can write to both DVD-R and DVD+RW - falsch, DVD+R - discs at 4x!

At CES 2003, TDK is demonstrating its leadership position in digital recording and playback solutions by showcasing its newest Indi DVD (Model 440) a highly versatile Multi-format DVD burner capable of 4x writing for both the DVD+R and DVD-R formats. The internal DVD writer is designed to give PC users the broadest range of flexibility in creative video/audio applications, including the ability to create, edit and share customized DVDs and CDs using video, still digital images, music and data, regardless of format. In addition to the new Multi-format drive, TDK recently introduced its single-format Indi DVD (Model 420N) offering home moviemakers the fastest burner on the market today, capable of 4x DVD+R burning - the most compatible format for today's stand-alone DVD players.

TDK's new multi-format drive will be shipping some time end April and has an estimated street price $299.99. The single format, Indi DVD 420N, is shipping and is available right now.

Sony Announces Next Generation Dual RW Drives

If you haven't been able to find a DRU-500A at your local computer store, relief is on the way. Sony will start shipping their next generation "Dual RW" drives next month.

The internal DRU-500AX and the external DRX-500ULX drives are capable of recording to both 4X compatible DVD+R and DVD-R discs at up to 4X speeds, offer enhanced software for mastering and drag-and-drop file management, and playback DVD recordable media faster than before.

Like their first-generation predecessors, the new Dual RW drives encompass four DVD recording formats for recording functionality and playback compatibility. By supporting all the popular DVD recordable/rewritable formats, the Dual RW drives allow computer users to transfer home movies from tape to DVD discs, customize and edit them for a personal touch, and then play them back in nearly all consumer DVD players and DVD-ROM drives without worrying about format variations.

Sony DRU-500AX and DRX-500ULX models are also the industrys first to support both up to 4X DVD+R and DVD-R recording when using 4X speed media, making them among the fastest on the market. Users can now create write-once discs in approximately half the time of drives writing at 2X speeds.

DVD+RW mit 4x ist doch ein klassischer Verschreiber

Oder kann er etwa nur 4x für -R und +RW
Was wäre dann mit +R  
Einen Satz später wird es ja im Prinzip richtig gestellt.
