According to a story at DigiTimes, the demand for DVD+RW drives will double by the end of the year. More importantly, prices are expected to drop down to $100!

The DVD+RW and DVD-RW standards have competed fiercely to become the market mainstream. Philips, the leading promoter of the DVD+RW standard, has attracted the biggest PC vendors, Dell Computer and Hewlett-Packard (HP), to its side to vie against Pioneer’s DVD-RW standard. According to Dr Bos, with support from Dell and HP, the price of DVD+RW burners will fall under US$100. Both Dell and HP are offering DVD+RW burners in their sub-US$1,000 PC systems, he added.
